What we’re doing
How we help beings thrive
Being Earthlings is a start-up that has been going strong for three years. We continue to grow, expand, and reach new horizons by always centering our mission to “Help Beings Thrive.” New beginnings, community impact, and expanding expertise have all contributed to how we fulfil our mission and serve the beautiful beings on this Earth. Here are some updates on what we’ve been doing:
Expanding Horizons
Our work has grown in exciting directions! We’ve expanded our grant writing services to include projects in education, mental health, and the arts, particularly for smaller community-oriented organizations. We do this while also maintaining our ongoing work with a long-term client partnership spanning to even before our founding. Through this partnership we have written and won many global data for development grant opportunities in the areas of climate, agriculture, health, and education.
Inclusive Systems Design
Our innovative approach to Inclusive Systems Design leverages diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) values, ensuring participants have the necessary tools to create impact at the grassroots level, informing more inclusive organizations from the inside out.
Our ongoing collaboration with an education technology client, lasting for over four years, remains a cornerstone of our work. We provide them with continuous inclusive systems consulting and advisory, ensuring their values for inclusion and accessibility are demonstrated in their communications and partnerships.
Community Commitment
At Being Earthlings, community work is at the heart of our mission. As a Member of the Board and volunteer Co-Director of the Mosaic program at CISV, BE founder, Jamila Daniel has had the joy of guiding children to connect with nature such as fostering conversations with trees to help them tap into the wisdom of the natural world. Jamila also serves as Board Liaison to CISV’s DEIA Committee, ensuring inclusion and accessibility are integrated into programming across all 24 US chapters.
We also continue to support Middleton-Cooke Farms, an organization which advocates for the liberation of Black women and the Gullah Geechee communities in South Carolina. As a Member of the Board, this has been one of our most rewarding partnerships. Their work, centered on cultural heritage, spirituality, and rest aligns with our mission to Help Beings Thrive.
Elevating Global Voices
One of the year’s highlights was editing Dr. Balasubramaniam’s The Power Within, a book that proposes an approach to leadership that leverages yogic philosophy, an essential new framing of leadership for today’s world that acknowledges ancient Indian knowledge as opposed to centering western thought. Seeing the book become a national bestseller in India—and being acknowledged in its pages—was a deeply fulfilling milestone.
Additionally a move that has greatly enriched our work is our relocation to Oaxaca, Mexico. Immersion into the local culture has informed our ability to integrate ancient Indigenous wisdom into Being Earthlings’ approach, enhancing the authenticity and impact of our work with clients.
March 2024 marked three incredible years of Being Earthlings. We’re grateful for the trust and partnership of our clients, which have allowed us to grow and give back.
